November 12, 1959 - Calvary Church was formed and began its first meetings in a little church on S. 10th st, until a store building at 1812 Perkins was rented.
1960-1962 - Calvary elected its first Pastor, Rev. H.E Burris. Property was purchased at the corner of 25th and Jones streets. Services began being held in the basement on January 15, 1961, until the auditorium was completed.
1962-1963 - Rev. Lester Caraway became Pastor at Calvary for one year. During that year, the attendance record was broken, with 200 in attendance. The first sound system was purchased, and revival services were held.
1963-1964 - Rev. Lee Roy & Sis. Rebecca Sherry came to pastor Calvary on July 12, 1963. Two revivals were held during their tenure, and in October of 1964, Bro. and Sis. Sherry resigned, to follow their calling to the missions field.
1964-1979 - Rev. E.J McClintock began his pastorate on December 7, 1964. Under Rev. McClintocks leadership, the church prospered and grew. Two lots were purchased for parking, and a major addition was completed on the church. There was also a large bus ministry. On Easter Sunday, 1974, there were 312 in attendance. At his resignation, Bro. McClintock stated that 258 souls were baptized in Jesus’ name during his tenure.
1979 - Rev. Fleetwood served as Pastor for 18 months.
1980-1983 - Rev. James mcElhaney served as Pastor.
1983-1993 - Rev. Richard Pearce was Pastor for 10 years.
1993-2024 - Rev. Steven Edwards was elected as Pastor. During his ministry at Calvary, our current building at 406 N 44th st was built and the first service was held in January of 2009.
2024-Present - Rev. Franklin Gilbert was elected on June 19, 2024, to be the next Pastor at Calvary. Calvary continues to grow, and we are excited to see all that God does in this next season!
